Mak Tui, Luang Phor Maha Surasak, Wat Pradoo, Samut Songkhram Province.


Mak Tui
One of the most famous Mak Tui maker is from Wat Nhang. The traditional way of making Mak Tui is Luang Phor himself look for natural dead and dry up Betel Nut Tree. Whereby the Betel Nut still hanging on the tree. Luang Phor will ask the helper to climb up to the tree and get the Betel Nut with only his mouth but with out using his hand. Before that Luang Phor will chant some special katha to allowed him to get the Betel Nut. Then having some special bessing ceremony and tie up and coverd with Sai Xin (chanting string). A layer of Rak will be apply to the surface to keep the Betel Nut bite by others insects or made it water proof. The final step will apply Gold Leaf on the surface which is looked nicer bling bling and also bring Great Luck. Luang Phor used to say: "The devotees who have the Mak Tui will not die because of hunger." Which is good for people to "Cari Makan" or "容易找吃,不会饥饿". No matter how hard is the economic you still able to survive in your own field and able to win over your competitor. Good for people who dealing with the client or customer.
