Several Lanna scholars and experts have stated that they were made from a special quality metal. The blade is not sharp and the tip is not pointed. They could also be made of the tooth of a tiger or a boar as well as ivory, albino buffalo horns, gaur horns, shells or even wood shaped like a knife or just a plain tooth or ivory itself.
