This phayant (Cloth Talisman) is dedicated to a Northern Thai (Lanna) Deity called Phaya Khao Kham. Similar to the Folk Hero Khun Phaen, Phaya Khao Kham was a greatly respected and powerful warrior with many wives. Phaya Khao Kham is not deeply associated with occult magic, and his image is used as a popular charm for attracting love and success in romance. He is usually portrayed as a Soldier wearing helmet shaped hat that has golden horns, in the company of several women (most commonly two).
"Phaya Khao Kham" is a northern Deva, often mistakenly thought synonymous with "Khun Phaen". It's said the Prince had a very handsome face but 3 Golden Horns on his head. The crown would cover his horns as a Prince. Still Phaya Khao Kham wanted to remove his horns because he felt they made him look ugly. A teacher told the Prince that only merit could remove the horns.
As the story goes it's said that when Phaya Khao Kham met his wives they were able to remove the golden Horns instantly. This act was taken as a powerful omen, therefore they lived together happily. It is believed that his wives are actually manifestations of the Devine sent from Heaven.
