“Phra Khun Phaen Phong Prai Kumarn Trimas (Quarter) 51” built during the Buddhist Lent B.E.2551 / Year: 2008 (press printed on Monday, June 16, B.E.2551) is the Roon Suthai (Last Model) issued at Wat Nong Krub with numbers on the side and embedded code tablets on the back. This version of amulet mixed with mass powder which is fully prepared. The consecration ceremony is as magical as the saying that “If Luang Pu Tim's Khun Phaen amulet cannot be found for worship, then replaced and use the Phra Khun Phaen of Luang Phor Sakorn consecrated instead. Together well.” Phra Khun Phaen Phong Prai Kuman B.E. 2551 this year, Luang Phor Sakorn consecrated throughout the quarter, so it is popularly known as "Phra Khun Phaen Roon Trimas 51". What is Plai Guman powder ???

Luang Pu Tim of Wat Lahanrai used to create Pong Plai Guman powder followed very ancient ways, which only a few monks had the knowledge to create successfully.

Kon Kulahp (the disciple of Luang Pu Tim) was instructed by Luang Pu Tim to find the corpse of a woman that died during pregnancy and the woman should have died on a Saturday and cremated on a Tuesday. He was further told that once such a cadaver was located that he should remove parts of the child's skull, from the unborn fetus and not look back once the sacred material had been secured. This was carried out in accordance with the wishes of Luang Pu Tim.

Luang Pu Tim chanted a special Katha for one week in order to prevent the spirit departing from the Plai Guman. Once completed, Kon Kulahp was instructed to pound and grind the material into a fine powder, which he commenced to do, before becoming somewhat disturbed by sparks emanating from the mortar. He had to burn incense and ask for forgiveness before this phenomena abated.

Luang Pu Tim took the Plai Guman powder and mixed it with a number of other sacred powders including, Itije powder, Patamang powder, Jindahmanee powder and 108 different herbs and sedges. The mixture was chanted for days on end.

The Plai Guman was also added to a few other batches of amulets including this Khun Paen , Phra Somdej, Phra Piddta and Phra Kring Chinabahnchorn. In the case of the Phra Kring amulet the material was added to the base.


The Reason why Luang Pu Tim chose to use the skull of a dead child in the process was because the amulet made by Plai Guman will provide merit from Lord Buddha and the power and protection will come from Plai Guman.

She is extremely popular in Thailand. This goddess brings money and prosperity. She is most often seen wearing a traditional Thai dress. It is told her favorite color is red. Close by her left side you will find the money bag. Sometimes she holds the money bag in her left hand. That is her attribute. She is almost always pictured in a sitting position. Most often she will wear a golden crown on her head. Her rights hand seems to be waving. This is a beckoning motion is believed to attract wealth and customers. It is the same gesture as seen on the Japanese Beckoning Cat, Maneki Neko. It may come as no surprise that the cat is Nang Kwak’s sacred animal. She has much in common with the Beckoning Cat. Mae means mother and this tittle gives her extra honor. Nang Kwak is much loved in Thailand. Pictures and statues (buccha) of her are found in homes and most business establishment. Actually anyone with a strong urge to manifest wealth will have some kind of image, statue or amulet close by. Some prefer to make offerings to Nang Kwak. Offerings can be water bottles, red rose syrup water, flowers, white rice, sweets or make-up. Many may also burn incense sticks as a tribute to Nang Kwak. Yet others are happy and satisfied to keep the Nang Kwak statue at peace and feel confident she bestows her blessings of good fortune for the household or business place. Wearing an amulet with an image of Nang Kwak is also very common. This is practical for people on the move. Also people who want the constant blessings of Nang Kwak will wear her amulet in addition to having her statue (buccha) in their home or business place. Not all will choose a statue (buccha). In some shops and homes you may find they prefer to have a picture of this goddess of wealth hanging on the wall. Nang Kwak Legend The story of how this goddess came to be is not set in stone. Some say she is the incarnation of the old Thai rice goddess called Mae Phosop. Rice has always been connected to wealth. As an incarnation of the rice goddess, Nang Kwak takes the wealth attraction business to a higher level. Another popular legend is that Nang Kwak once was a young woman named Supawadee. She lived with her parents in a small town in Northern India about the time Buddhism started gain followers. Her parents were merchants and not very successful. They struggled hard to keep their business above ground and barely made enough to support their family. Supawadee would often accompany her father on his business trips. It was on one of these trips she found herself listening to a sermon on Buddhism. The words of the sermon seemed to make perfect sense and she immediately converted to Buddhism. Supawadee became a very devoted Buddhist. Gasaba Thaera had for a long time noticed the sincerity of Supawadee and was very much impressed. As it happened Gasaba Thaere was an Arahant, one who had been pronounced worthy, a perfect person. According to Buddhism he had special powers. Gasaba Thaere used his powers to bless Supawadee. The blessing she received would be connected to good fortune. As a result her family became very wealthy. Rumors of Supawadee’s connection to prosperity brought people from near and far to her home. All were eager to be blessed by this fortunate woman. Supawadee was to become the spirit or goddess of wealth known as Nang Kwak.

Lanna magic knife for healing. Lanna healer's knives called a "mithaek" or "mitmor" for healing a sick or spirit possessed person. 

Lanna Sastra Akhom

Lanna sacred weapons are Sastra Akhom from part of the war history of various ethnic groups. Their role nowadays has changed from fighting to providing protection to the country to being ritual elements to remind the people of their value. Small knives or mitnoi or pra, according to the Tai Yong of Lamphun, like pradap (sword), prato (cleaver), prawaeng, pranoi and prapraisaeo (pointed knife) could be used as a weapon. Chiang Mai people have the word liam to mean pointed instead. There are also other types of knives such as mitnep (that can be tucked into the waistband of trousers), mitnum and mitsui.

Mitnoi or Pranoi

Mitnoi or pranoi refers simply to small knives of about six inches in length and mostly with a pointed tip to be carried by tucking them at the belly or waistband. The longer one, mitsok, is about the length from the elbow to the fingertips; it can be used for kitchen work or carried in a shoulder bag or tucked in the back suspended by a string when riding on an elephant or a buffalo or when climbing a tree. Its sheath and handle can be decorated more elaborately than kitchen knife. 

A knife whose handle is made of ivory and kept in a silver sheath is kept as a collector's item and is hardly used in daily activities. It is polished and coated with oil so that it will survive better. This type of knife came from Shan State; so it is an imported item or one made by a foreigner not the local Tai Yuan people. Antique traders around the border confirmed that these knives were brought by the Tai Yai from Myanmar long ago. The knives with ivory handles and silver sheaths from Shan State belonged to the well-to-do people. Only a few commoners could afford to have them specially from carved ivory or animal teeth. Besides being useful as decorative items, they were also used by medicine men/ shamans for healing certain diseases and for ritual performances. The ivory handle and the silver sheaths are hard to repair so it is difficult to find one in perfect condition. The iron or ore used to make the knives was of a high quality found in Mueang Nong and Mueang Ton in Shan State. Cattle traders brought them along to sell. During the period when antiques became popular and in high demand, the Tai Yai antique agents would go around every village and bring out swords, knives, tube skirts, baskets, etc., so all kinds of antiques were left in stacks around Chiang Mai, Mai Sai and Mae Sot, and some found their way to Chatuchak Market in Bangkok 4-5 years ago. A nice looking knife could earn over a thousand Thai Baht and now it can fetch as much as ten thousand Baht.
Mit Haek Mit Haek is a small knife. The word haek in Lanna culture means to scrape or rub. Mit Haek is inscribed with incantations to heal diseases or ward off evil spirits, like mitmor. Several Lanna scholars and experts have stated that they were made from a special quality metal. The blade is not sharp and the tip is not pointed. They could also be made of the tooth of a tiger or a boar as well as ivory, albino buffalo horns, gaur horns, shells or even wood shaped like a knife or just a plain tooth or ivory itself.

Phra Chao Ha Phra Ong (Buddha Ohsuthaya Chan Sung), Nur Yapara-Nga Su (high-class Buddha Medicine), Kruba Apiwat, Wat Thung Pong (B.E.2558).

Phra Chao Ha Phra Ong may be translated (as the 5 blessings of Buddha). Which are "Na-Mo-Put-Ta-Ya". Although less known by the general public, it is considered as one of the “Yant Kru” (fundamental yant). These sacred utterances (Mantras) are usually pronounced over and over by buddhist monks, in order to enter a high level of meditation. They can be found in many buddhist representations. 

Generally speaking, Phra Chao Ha Phra Ong will bring Good Luck, Happiness and Well Being to the wearer. It will also protect you from the potential surrounding Bad Spirits, Metta Maha Niyom (makes people around you love you, and be kind to you) Kongkrapan Chatri (helps make you invulnerable to all weapon attack), Kaew Klaad Plodpai (helps push you away from all danger).  The myth of Phra Chao Ha Phra Ong - the myth of the Five Buddhas - is a folk narrative that is widespread in all regions of Thailand. The title of the story is different in some regions. In the North of Thailand, it is called by a different name such as “Tamnan Phraya Ka Phueak”, “Anisong Phang Prathip”, “Mae Ka Phueak”, “Phra Chao Ha Ton”, “Tamnan Wiang Kalong”, and “Tamnan Doi Singkhuttara.” In the Northeast, it is called “Ka Phueak” in some areas and “Tamnan Phra That Choeng Chum” in some others. In some areas in the central region, it is called “Ka Khao”, “Ton Het Loi Kra-thong”, and “Pancha Phuttha Phayakon”, while in some areas in the South, it is called “Phra Poramat” or “Phra Chao Sam Nen”, for example. The myth explains the origin of the five Buddhas who lived and will be born in the Phatthara Kap - the present aeon. In the past epochs of this aeon, there were three Buddhas, namely Phra Kukku Santha, Phra Kona-khom, and Phra Katsappa ; in the present epoch, the Gotama; and in the coming epoch, there will be Phra Sri Ariya Mettraiya, the last Buddha of this aeon. The myth of the Five Buddhas traces back to the origin of the five Buddhas to the time before their reincarnation as the Buddhas -- when they were siblings, born of analbino crow. The albino crow laid five eggs in her nest on a big tree. A storm blew away the nest and the five eggs fell down from the tree and were carried away by the flood. The albino crow thought that her children died, and she wilted away and died with a broken heart. She became Thao Phaka Phrom in heaven. The five eggs were picked up by different kinds of female animals: a hen, a naga, a turtle, a cow, and a singha. When the eggs hatched, five infants emerged from them. The infants, all boys, grew up and later became rishis (sages) and lived in the forest. Indra, the Lord of Heaven, was concerned and sent Vishvakarma to build ashrams (hermitages, retreats) for the five rishis. One day the five rishis came upon one another and found out that they were siblings. They then thought of their mother - the albino crow and wished to see her again. Thao Phaka Phrom therefore descended from heaven and told them to make a cotton wick in the shape of a crow’s claw, put it in an oil lamp or Phang, and light it to pay homage to their mother, who would be blessed by their gratefulness. The myth of the Five Buddhas was created in the Thai culture in an attempt to link the five Buddhas together as siblings. The myth played a role in the belief system of the Buddhist Thai for a long time. It justifies several rituals and festivals, such as Lai Ruea Fai festival, Yi Peng festival, Tai Pra-thip festival, and Than Tung festival. It also plays a political role since it was referred to in the Kotmai Tra Sam Duang (The Three Seals Code).
